There have been a few times when I am cruising around the Internet on the hunt for a diet that I can ‘stick with’ and that is going to work for me and my hectic schedule. For the first ten minutes it seems like such an impossible task because there is just too many to choose from. You have to learn how to sift through the ones that work and the ones that not only sound odd – but probably don’t help in the slightest.
Have you heard of the cabbage soup diet? I know it sounds odd right? We are still looking into that one and hope to shed some light on how awful or great it might be. One diet that we have been able to learn a bit more about is the raw food diet!
What Is It?
Before you let your mind run crazy you should know that we are talking about fruits and veggies and not meat. Trying to eat raw chicken is deadly and for some of us raw fish is just nasty to the taste buds.
No. This diet focuses on eating healthy fruits and vegetables. The trick to this diet is that it provides you with the vitamins and nutrients that you need to stay energized through the day and get the calories that you need in your diet without all of the fat and carbohydrates.
What To Do
Many health experts believe that this diet is so successful because nothing is cooked over 114 degrees Fahrenheit. This means that a lot of the necessary nutrients are still there and not cooked off at all. Just make sure that you wash it thoroughly before you try to consume any of it.
Make sure that when you start a diet as strict as this that you ease yourself into it. Unless you are highly motivated (let’s face it, most of us aren’t) than you should never cut out a lot of the foods that you are used to eating and suddenly eat raw food. Slowly over time change out each meal.
Start with breakfast and replace the pancakes and bacon with fruit. After a week or two you can switch up lunch by eating nothing but vegetables, fruits or even nuts and seeds. For dinner you can change out the chicken and potatoes for a delicious and unique salad. The salads are actually fun because you can get creative with it.
You will be amazed by how much better you will feel and how much weight you will be able to lose over the coming weeks. Just make sure that you do get some type of protein by eating vegetables like avocado and lentil.
