Flavor Your Healthy Meals

How many times have you started a diet and than come off of it because you could not enjoy it and you were bored by the foods that you had to eat. When we think of diet we think that we are relegated to eating the dry and bland foods because they are the only healthy things that we can get our hands on.

Sure, when you get the fruits and veggies they come to you just the way that they are. When you steam them they can be very boring and bland. That is why you need to come up with fun and unique ways to add in some flavor without also adding in a ton of calories and fat.

Who said that you had to cut oil and butter completely out of your diet when you are trying to lose weight? The trick is simply to find the ones that are made with the healthy fat and to use it in moderation. It is ok to cook your chicken in a skillet with a teaspoon of oil or butter. This can add in a small amount of flavor.


Learn about the different spices that you can buy at the grocery store and find the ones that have a bold taste that you can enjoy. There are a ton of varieties including the Mrs. Dash. These are a mixture of spices to use in cooking and that are sodium free. Use this to flavor your meat and veggies.


There are a few marinades that you could buy – which are healthy. Lawrys is tasty and it cuts back a lot of the amount of sodium that most others are made with. You could also try to make your own. Be creative and learn how lemon juice, thyme, and oil can taste when you pour it over your fish.
